About us
I'm Sam, I'm Max and Parker's Dad, absolute golf-obessive and the founder of Max Park Golf ⛳. So, you now also know how the name Max Park Golf ⛳ came about...it's all thanks to my sons, Max & Parker.
But our origin story started a couple years back in the UK when I was keen for the boys to get into golf, as something that we could share together until we're all grey and old. I had an 18-year old set of Titleist 804 forged irons, and some even older Wilson TourRx woods and driver and figured, I'd just saw those in half, regrip them and away we'd go.
So that's what I did...
But, these were far too heavy, and far too difficult for the boys to hit. Max was only four at the time and Parker two. I had a look around online and quickly found there were two options from here. Cheap and nasty clubs, or wildly expensive ones that were bland, boring and as stuffy as plenty of private member golf clubs can be.
What I also found was that none of them were any fun. And for me the #1 (and only) rule about golf with my boys is that it's FUN! I figure if they're having fun, I'm having fun, and we'll have fun playing golf for the rest of our lives together.
I thought, if I can't find the clubs I want for my boys, I'll make them. They need to be lightweight, easy to hit the ball up in the air, high-quality (carbon shafts, titanium and stainless-steel heads), colourful and oodles-and-oodles of fun!
So, that's what I did, and Max Park Golf ⛳ was born.
The vision was four premium clubs, a lightweight stand carry bag, and the goodies needed (like fun headcovers) to want the kids to grab their bags and say, "can we go to golf now?"
The Rocket driver, titanium head, carbon fibre shaft, light and high-tech like a real rocket so they can really see the ball lift-off to the moon when they smash it.
The Koala iron, from our Aussie roots, hugging those fairways and gripping onto the greens when they plop next to the pin.
The Digger...self explanatory, when you're in the sandpit, you need the best excavator possible!
The Bullfrog putter, squat down low, read the breaks, be at one with the grass, the Bullfrog (also a childhood nickname) is a favourite of everyones!
While we were designing and prototyping the clubs, shafts, headcovers, bags and even some merch, we also decided to pack up from the UK and move the family (and pets) to sunny Portugal.
An awesome year in Portugal, but just as we were ready to place a large (and first) order from our suppliers and we decided to pack up everything again and move the family (and pets) back to Australia where I'm (and the cat are) from originally, but where the whole family are Australian citizens and where a big chunk of our family live.
We're now based in the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, where we got that first order, and we hand build, package and box every single club and set that we sell.
We only use the best materials we can, from carbon fibre shafts, titanium heads on the driver, 401 stainless steel for the putter and irons, right down to the Brompton Pro Tour grade epoxy for building each club.
I researched ideal CPM (cycles per minute) frequency for kids clubs (it's around 220 for the driver, and 250 for the iron and wedge) to the torque (they're all mid-torque) and went down that rabbit hole to make these as ideal for the kids as possible.
Sure, that's all minute detail most people won't care about, but for me, it's important. As a golf-obsessive (self-confessed nerd) I just want my boys and every other kiddo that gets a Max Park Golf ⛳ set to have the best quality and most fun start to their golfing journey – quality gear, quality time and fun is what it's all about.
Anyway, that's a little about our journey so far. We're a small operation, family focused, golf-obsessed and wanting to play our part to making golf accessible, fun and bringing more kids into the game. Hopefully Max Park Golf ⛳ will be the first fun start to golf for thousands of kids and years to come.
We'll see you on the range and course 💪
